This individual will be responsible for sustenance engineering to Scale Out Network Attached Storage (SONAS) and Storwize V7000 Unified storage array. In this role, s/he will be responsible for providing level-3 technical support to product customer base. S/He will be expected to work closely with level-2 support team and customers to understand the issues, do detailed analysis and suggest workarounds/solutions to address the customer reported problems. S/He will be expected to investigate failures, do log analysis and code level debugging, develop fixes/patches, test and provide patches to the customers. This will require working with the development team also to understand the design and implementation of existing features. This role will also have an opportunity to work on product enhancements to address existing limitations and provide new functions requested by customers.
- Strong Storage background with experience in one or more of NAS, SAN, File level protocols (NFS, CIFS), Clustered Filesystems, CTDB, Samba, Block level protocols (SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet), Replication, High Availability, Data Deduplication, Backup/Restore, NDMP, Virtualization.
- Strong debugging skills on Linux platform. Strong expertise in debugging tools such as Crash, gdb, kdb, dbx, log analysis.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Strong UNIX system programming skills (C, scripting).
- Strong OS internals including multithreading, RPC, socket programming.
- Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with any Source code control system and any Defect Tracking system.
- Good understanding of Software development lifecycle and methodology.
